Carpet & Upholstery
We offer the "steam cleaning" method, using a powerful, truck mounted unit. This cleaning is far different than the portable "steam cleaning" units many people use in their homes. After 33 yrs in the industry, we are even more convinced that this is the preferred method for removing contaminants from our customers' carpets and upholstery.
When you go see a doctor or dentist, read the plaques on their wall. They are “Board Certified”. This means they have completed a lot of training and education to receive that certification. The Clean Trust (formerly the IICRC) is an independent, non-profit certifying board which sets standards for the cleaning/restoration industry.
This certification cannot be purchased, it can only be obtained by formal study, passing extensive written exams, continuing educational credits each year, and years of field experience. We at Nelson Clean Care have taken the time for proper training, to be the best in our field so we can provide to you, our customer, the most advanced cleaning methods available. Each technician is certified in many areas of expertise. Please see individual profiles for their certifications.

Carpet & upholstery can become soiled and stained, a fabric and fiber protector such as Scotchgard, helps block staining, makes it easier to vacuum and helps to keep your carpet & upholstery looking its best.
Carpet manufacturers recommend Scotchgard to be reapplied after cleaning.
Our certified technicians are trained in proper cleaning methods, our process gently removes all soiling without affecting the factory applied protector. However, the protectors will wear off with vacuuming and normal foot traffic. We do recommend, as do most manufacturers, that Scotchgard be reapplied to all frequently used areas to give your carpet & upholstery the best protection possible. Visit the Scotchgard web site for more information.
Our powerful truck mounted unit will remove the majority of moisture from your carpeting. Our technicians will provide you some after-cleaning guidelines to help your carpets dry ASAP. Carpets will usually dry in 6 - 12 hours, depending upon several factors, such as weather, humidity and air movement. The carpet can be walked on right away if you have clean feet, but we recommend restricting foot traffic until carpet is completely dry. An extra fan will speed up the drying process, as will central air conditioning in the summer.
We want to ensure that you get the best value for your money. Some rooms may require wall to wall cleaning, while others may only need traffic or open areas. You only pay for what you need cleaned.
We feel you should only have to pay for what you have cleaned. When companies charge per room, it will always be figured at a higher than average room size. If you have a room with 450 square feet and a room with only 100 square feet - you should not have to pay the same price.
Urine can require a complicated cleaning procedure depending upon the degree of urine contamination in the carpeting and how far it has penetrated. If the degree is light, we can usually take care of it with a topical treatment to neutralize the odor. If the degree is heavy, we may need to inspect the carpet and find out what is contaminated. It could be the carpet backing, the pad, the tack strips and even the subfloor. Once we have determined that, then we can recommend the best way to remove the odors.
That reasoning is true if you have your carpet shampooed. The shampooing leaves a sticky residue behind that attracts dirt to it, thus it can resoil faster after cleaning. Nelson Clean Care uses steam extraction to remove all soiling. We do not leave a residue of any kind to attract soiling.
Our cleaning methods are recommended by major carpet manufacturers.
We prefer to have you at home when we clean your carpet & upholstery. However we know this is not always possible. We are insured and have been working in private homes for over 33 years and have never had any problems. Many customers leave a door open for us or let us know how to get access to their homes while they are at work.
No, most people do not move their furniture. We do ask you to remove all small items from the tops & interiors of furniture you would like us to move. We do not move china or collectibles filled hutches, pianos, entertainment centers, dressers, beds, etc. If you have specific questions regarding an item, please metion it when you call and we will be happy to talk with you about it. We provide several levels of service to fit your needs. Our certified technicians can clean wall to wall moving everything, completely go around certain items, or only clean open traffic areas. Any item we move to clean under will be blocked or tabbed to protect the carpet & item while the carpet dries.
It is a good idea to pre-vacuum your carpeting before we arrive, especially if you have pets. Our powerful truck mounted units vacuum system will be used to remove all possible soiling during our steam cleaning process.
Back in 1994 there was research done to find out what caused Kawasaki syndrome in infants and small children, carpet cleaning was one of areas investigated. They found there was no connection from carpet cleaning. There are currently no connections between the products we use & illness. ( Ref: Currant Medical Literature: Infectious Diseases 1994:8)
However we do recommend small children and the elderly stay off of damp carpeting for safety reasons such as slipping and falling.
That can be a loaded question.
A lot depends upon how heavily you use the carpeting. Most manufacturers require the carpet to be cleaned in the first 12 - 18 months to maintain the warranty. Depending upon use, we recommend steam cleaning about once a year for carpeting and every 1-2 years for upholstery.
Many coupon advertisers are know for their “bait and switch” tactics. They bait you with a price that seems to good to be true, but once they are in your home the price goes up very quickly. “You need extra spotters, you need this special pre-spray, the special price does not include moving furniture, you need this, you need that, etc.”
That is not true with Nelson Clean Care, we will give you honest pricing right up front. No sales gimmicks, No hidden costs, No bait and switch. We will only send a uniformed, trained & certified technician to your home.
We are aware of the needs and problems of those who are chemically sensitive. We have special products and modify our procedures for your home.
